In collaboration with the Houston Police Department and local activist Sandra Massie Hines, Houston Public Library's Johnson Branch hosted a Holiday and Personal Safety Presentation for Seniors.
The HPD presentation taught basic safety and security tips in various holiday situations, including:
- Shopping,
- Home security
- Protecting yourself and your personal information while shopping,
- Holiday traveling and more.
Miss Hines spoke concerning various topics affecting Sunnyside, including:
- Crimes committed against the elderly in Sunnyside
- Steps taken to address the situation
- New police partners & seniors liasion
- New Seniors Handout Brochures created for crime awareness to disseminate in the community.
- Employment Opps for Seniors (60) Sixty and olderCommunity Food Outreach Programs
The turnout was impressive, and we received some powerful feedback from some of the local seniors.
