Floating Items from new STE-mini branch

Hi everyone,

Please see the message below from LMS concerning new float items that JOH will be receiving from the temporary Stella Link branch. Also, please note that hold items arriving from STE will need a yellow hold label added to them as the new location does not have a label printer.

---
Good afternoon!

Today’s opening of the temporary STE Mini-branch at the Weekley Family YMCA next door is an exciting day for the neighborhood!

While we don’t yet know exactly how busy they will be there, with both holds to be picked up and items being returned, we anticipate that the volume will be high and there is very little space.

Therefore, STE-mini staff will be floating out surplus returns and expired holds daily.  Rather than routing everything through the LMS Float Hub, they will be sending boxes directly to other NLs. Almost all open locations will be receiving them, on a rotating basis. The frequency, content, and number of boxes NLs will receive will depend on the volume and types of material customers bring through the door.

The list below indicates which locations STE staff will be sending materials out to and those they won’t. If you location is in Column 1, you should alert your teams to be on the lookout for incoming boxes of floaters from STE-mini.  If your location is in Column 2, you should not receive any boxes of floaters. As locations reopen, they will be shifted into the receiving list.

Boxes will be sent with green FLOAT labels and are to be considered approved floats. STE staff will be checking out their outgoing floaters to their FLOAT account just like any other location does.  Likewise, it is essential that recipients check in the items that arrive so they float into their locations properly.

Please do not contact STE staff directly concerning floating issues. If the quantity of material coming in becomes too overwhelming for your location, you have room for more, or you have other questions, please contact me directly, either by phone or email. I’ll make a routing adjustment if needed or change the number of boxes you can send in to LMS.

**An additional note: STE-mini staff may trap holds for pickup at other locations when taking returns or clearing their hold shelf. Because they will not have a holds printer onsite at the YMCA, those holds will arrive at pickup locations with a plain paper holds wrapper.  Please check in the holds as usual, then print and attach regular sticky yellow holds labels before placing the items on your holds shelves.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation as we continue to be flexible in this post-Harvey world!

~Sara
